30 Rock is produced in a single camera setup,[3] and is primarily filmed at Silvercup Studios in Long Island City, Queens, New York,[4] with some scenes filmed on location at Rockefeller Center.[5] The pilot episode premiered on October 11, 2006[6] and five full seasons have aired since. 1. What is referred to here as the "GE Building" was first the RCA Building, principal structure of Rockefeller Center developed in the early 20th Century on a tract of land owned by John D. Rockefeller, founder of Standard Oil of New Jersey (Exxon today). Radio City Music Hall and the Museum of Modern Art (across 54th street at 13 West from which Vice President Nelson Rockefeller suffered a fatal heart attack while engaged in sex with his mistress, Megan, to whom he had given that townhouse) are other important sites on the tract.

The RCA building was serially renamed for its subsequent owners such as NBC, Singer, Sony, I believe, and one or two others. The "real" General Electric building was farther east on Lexington Avenue and about 51st Street. Winston Churchill's spy to America and Canada during WWII, William Stephenson, had his office in the RCA Building where he was able to interface with Western Union, who controlled the trans-Atlantic cable.

30 Rock is an outstanding example of art deco design, as is the entire Rockefeller Center complex of buildings and is topped by a fine restaurant, Top of the Rock, where wealthy people like to hold wedding receptions, bar mitzfas, and parties.

Certainly most every famous and significant American person since WWII has set foot in that iconic building.
